180mg Green Tea Extract per capsule.

95% polyphenol concentration, including EGCG

Green tea extract is a rich source of polyphenols. Polyphenols have been demonstrated to have chemopreventitive (i.e. block carcinogenesis), anti-oxidative, and anti-inflammatory properties.

Summary of some research studies: Anti-cancer study presently being undertaken, for treatment of solid tumours. Numerous studies showing protective effect against carcinogens. Based on animal and in vitro cell studies, it is suggested that green tea might particularly be protective against prostate and breast cancer. Anti-atherogenic effect? Studies show that consumption of green tea polyphenols decrease the free-radical induced oxidation susceptibility of lipids in human blood. There is a delay in in vitro copper induced oxidation of low density lipoprotein in blood of volunteers who had consumed green tea or extract of green tea. In another study of the same, negative results were obtained. An animal study in which they received an atherogenic (causesatherosclerosis) diet, showed that green tea extract at a high level in diet prevented or decreased the atherogenic changes normally found i.e. had anti-atherogenic effect. Green tea polyphenols may have a pro-convulsive effect in humans — caution epileptics. This warning is based on a study with animals. Green tea polyphenols can protect the liver against certain noxious chemicals. Ultra violet(UV) light exposure of the epidermis induces immuno-supression, this is prevented by green tea polyphenols and other flavonoids. Green tea catechins (polyphenols) suppress type-I allergic reactions. In tissue culture, green tea extract decreases the cytopathic (cell killing) effect of Coxsackie B3 virus. Many studies have indicated anti-viral abction against a number of different viruses. It has remarkable inhibitory effect on aflatoxin B1 induced hepatocarcinoma (liver cancer)was shown by green tea extract. It is thermogenic (i.e. increases energy expenditure), and could contribute to weight loss. Sickle cell anemia — could help prevent sickling. Green tea polyphenols have significant anti-oxidant capacity. They can decrease iron induced oxidation damage to tissues.Recent research found that EGCG the main polyphenol in Green Tea Extract had strong zincionophore (carries zinc across the cell membrane into the cell) action in vitro (cell culture experiments).

Do not take green tea extract at same time as iron supplements, as it will decrease the absorption of the iron.
